Keep That Racket Down!
People seem to come home from holidays in a worse state then when they left which seems to be defeat the object of 'getting away from it all'. Maybe's my views on what summer is all about is just backwards, perhaps I'm a little outdated when I just want to relax on a warm beach over summer rather than hugging the base of a toilet on a all inclusive holiday for £350 per person. Visiting Majorca you might think that all you are going to find is bar after bar, but that isn't the case in Alcudia, a resort that doesn't conform to the stigmas attached to most holidays on the Balearic Island.
Found at the most northern tip of Majorca, Alcudia is as far as possible from the noisy racket of public urination and pools of vomits that freshened every night over summer. The north coast of Majorca is much more tranquil than the popular southern areas and is definitely somewhere you can truly relax during summer on a warm beach in the fantastic Mediterranean weather. When the evening comes around in resorts such as Magaluf or Palma Nova the sunshine is replaced by the bright neon lights as bars and clubs begin to draw in the masses and fuel them alcohol. Back in Alcudia the evening also offers night-life but the atmosphere is somewhat different as people tend to drink in an attempt to enjoy the end of the day rather than to beat a world record.
Nowadays there seems to be two options for summer holidays and the more time goes by the more resort try to cater for everyone but this can put people off. Alcudia provides a coastal beach holiday for summer and being a large down has various facilities that holidaymakers have come to expect out of a resort, but there is a large portion of tourists, mainly mature couples and families, that want to be able to sleep undisturbed during the night in preparation of enjoying the next sunny day. By visiting a resort which offers more than one thing you are risking a holiday nightmare.
So what memories do you get out of staying in a laid back resort like Alcudia? Well, for starters you actually get memories plus you are more likely to walk away with the same amount of brain cells that you had when you first arrived to the resort. Your souvenir will be the time you spent exploring the town, enjoy the food and the hard earned tan you worked on at the beach, better that then having your favourite shirt stained purple with sangria and cursed with the smell of peach schnapps.
